646: Vigorous Veggies: a kids’ meditation and story

Raj feels thirsty when he’s outside gardening on a hot day, and realizes the plants are probably thirsty, too!

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:38

Vigorous Veggies Excerpt:

On a hot afternoon on Ahway Island, the sun shone brightly in a cerulean, cloudless sky. The breezy air was warm and fragranced with the scent of a thriving vegetable garden. Raj could feel the warmth of the ground through his shoes. He smiled and took a deep Dragon Breath in and out (deep breath), enjoying the fresh air.

On this lovely weekend afternoon, Raj was helping his mom and dad tend the garden. For the past few years, Raj’s family had grown a vegetable garden every summer. Raj loved to eat fresh veggies from his family’s very own garden, so he was determined to help take extra good care of the delicate plants.

Today, they were planting lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers from seedlings. Raj gently patted each of the small, fragile plants into the small holes he and his mom and dad had dug earlier in the afternoon. As he finished patting in his last tomato plant, Raj realized he was thirsty. Even though Raj wore a hat and sunscreen, it was hot work, working out in the garden in the bright sun!
