A Curious Sail Excerpt:

Soon she was out on the lake, and the skipper quickly pulled one sail up, then another.  Colors fluttered in the breeze as her sails were secured.  Sunshine lit Sandy’s sails, showing off their brilliance.  One sail was bright white with a sea green stripe lining the edges, and the other sail had alternating stripes of blue and sea green.  Sandy loved having that sail up.  As the skipper raised each sail, the wind filled it, and gently pushed Sandy along the surface of the water.

Up ahead, Sandy could see something, but didn’t know what it was.  There were little triangles, floating on the water.  Sandy hoped the captain would steer her towards them.  She was keeping her eye on the objects, when she felt herself turn. The captain was steering her in a different direction.  Sandy was disappointed.  She had hoped to find out what the objects were.  As the sailboat turned, the breeze whispered away. Sandy’s sails fluttered, and she coasted slowly.  The captain turned her rudder, back and forth, until the breeze filled her colorful sails again.  The breeze gently pushed Sandy forward and the little sailboat smiled.  She was headed back towards the triangular objects!  Now she could see colors in the distance. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple floated on the water ahead of her.
