Merry Mermaid Excerpt:

Lisa and her mom patiently waited in the line.  Moving slowly and steadily forward, Finally, they reached the front. Lisa and her mom were on their way in!  Now, they just needed to find a place to set the beach bag and their stuff.  Lisa’s mom looked around and spotted an open area, with a giant umbrella for shade.  She held Lisa’s hand, and began to make her way there.

As they weaved through the crowd, Lisa was bumped and jostled a little bit.  Sometimes, people said, “Oh, excuse me!” and sometimes they didn’t seem to know they had bumped into her.
Although she was a little uncomfortable, Lisa understood that it was just that crowded.  When Lisa and her mom reached the spot in the shade, Lisa took a deep dragon breath in and out (deep breath).  She felt better now that she had more space.  Just then another girl, and her mom, squeezed through the crowd to reach the shady spot.
“Hi, I’m Lydia.”  The girl said.
“I’m Lisa.” Lisa replied.
Lydia said, “I like your swimsuit.  You look like a mermaid.”
“Thanks!” Lisa said. “I like yours too! Purple is one of my favorite colors!” It looked like she would definitely make a new friend today.
