Pirate Queen Excerpt:

Allie giggled as Owen approached, feeling excited for her game to begin. Owen had a magenta scarf tied on his head, looking very piratey. When he found Allie he smiled and said, “Arrrr, I got your message, your majesty, and wore me best.”

In response, Allie laughed, “You look great, me hearty!” From a distance, they heard a shout, “There be the Pirate Queen!” Helen had arrived. Her purple eye patch and scarf designated her as one of the crew. Andy ran up to Helen and added, “Arrr.” His red and white striped shirt and scarf shouted pirate to any onlookers.

“Now that my crew be here, let’s find some pirate treasure.” Allie said.

“Yeah!” Owen, Andy, and Helen shouted. Allie pulled a gold rock out from her pocket to show her fellow pirates. “This be what we’re looking for.”

“Where do we start, your majesty?” the crew asked.

The pirate queen grinned, and held up a piece of paper. “Here’s our first clue.” There was a drawing on it and some writing that no one could read.

“What does it say?” Helen asked.
