161. First Ride: a kid’s mindful story and guided relaxation

Trudy the tricycle and Bing the bike help their wobbly passengers on their first rides. How will they do?

First Ride Excerpt:

The blue bicycle slept peacefully next to the little red tricycle in the cozy garage. Sunshine slipped through the cracks of the large door, and Bing the bicycle knew it was morning. As the door rumbled and slowly rolled up,Trudy the tricycle awoke. Both Bing and Trudy relaxed in the warmth of the sunlight filling the garage. Bing, who was a little taller than Trudy, looked up across the car’s hood and saw the little girl and boy walk into the garage with their mom and dad. Bing smiled and said to the tricycle, “I think we’re going out for a ride today!”

“Really!” Trudy said, “How do you know?”

The bicycle replied. “I can see that the little boy and girl are wearing helmets, and I’m pretty sure they only wear those when they are going for a ride.”

Sure enough, the little boy and girl walked over to the tricycle and bicycle and gently rolled them out of the garage. With mom beside her, the little girl hopped up onto the bicycle. Bing was proud. She had been practicing her balancing for a while now, and the little girl only wobbled a tiny bit on the still bike. The little girl had also been practicing how to stop her bike when it rolled too quickly, and she was really good at that too. Now, she was ready to ride. The bicycle looked over and saw that the little boy had hopped onto the tricycle, pedaled furiously, turned too quickly and tumbled into the grass. Trudy was tilted over, her handlebars lying in the grass. The little boy picked himself up, still smiling, and gently set the little tricycle back up onto her wheels. She looked a little surprised. Once Bing realized that Trudy and the boy were ok, he laughed. After all, it was a bit funny.

160. Fantastic Flyers: a bedtime story & guided meditation for kids

As the airplanes fly above the island the clouds gather. Will they make it back to the hangar before the storm begins?

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Fantastic Flyers” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:38

Fantastic Flyers Excerpt:

The airplanes gazed out of the hangar at the beautiful blue sky speckled with fluffy clouds. Holly, Hawk and Herb decided it was a good time to see how things were going around their little world. The three planes rumbled out to the runway and one by one, took off. Meeting each other just below the clouds the planes decided to visit the beach first. So Herb took the lead. After all, the beach was the bright yellow plane’s favorite spot to visit.

Right away Herb spotted a blue bucket lounging in the sand and smiled. Holly the green plane laughed as she watched the little blue penguins popping out of the waves. They certainly seemed to be having fun. Hawk the red plane enjoyed watching the palm trees sway back and forth, back and forth. The beach was a soothing place for all three planes.

Then the red plane took the lead. Hawk wanted to check on the land of ice and snow. So off the trio went, flying through the sky. The air grew cooler and cooler, and the ground changed to white as the planes approached the land of ice and snow. Hawk smiled as he watched a beluga whale blow water out of his spout. Herb was flying a bit low and nearly was splashed. All three planes laughed. Then there was a splash! A penguin popped up and then dove back down. The little whale followed.

146. More Tent Tales: a bedtime story and meditation

Tyra the Tent has more Tent Tales of helping kids with their emotions. Who will she help today?

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “More Tent Tales” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Female

More Tent Tales Excerpt:

Tyra the Tent was proud of her role in helping the children learn. She made sure that the paper listing the rules was posted right inside the entrance, although now the kids seemed to know exactly what to do. Just like the rules said, once inside the tent, they took three deep dragon breaths in and out. Just like that. Then, once they finished with the deep breaths, they chose a “feel better” activity. That’s what was different.

Tyra was interested to see each kid’s choice. Sometimes they used the same things for the different feelings. Sometimes they used something different for the same feeling. Sometimes they had to try a few things before they found something that helped. The little tent had all kinds of books. She had all kinds of fidgets. Tyra had music to quietly hum along with, papers and crayons to draw with, and a list of exercises. In the corner the little tent had a small beanbag chair, and a blanket for sitting quietly. There were so many options. She wondered what the kids would use today.

The little tent found out quickly.  A little girl came in and bounced into the beanbag chair.  The girl could hardly sit still, and she had a giant grin plastered on her face.

“Wow!” Tyra thought, “She really feels excited.”

Today’s Meditation: Today, enjoy the feeling of your body relaxing into the warm sand on a sunny beach.

142. The Huggy Chair: a mindful story for kids

Bailey the Bean Bag Chair gets ready to help the kids deal with their feelings. Sometimes everyone needs a Huggy Chair.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “The Huggy Chair” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Male

The Huggy Chair Excerpt:

Bailey didn’t have to wait long. An angry kid stomped into the room and flopped down into the chair, arms crossed and brow furrowed. The big beanbag chair loved a tough case! He circled the boy, and gave him a tight hug.

Anyone who settled into the beanbag chair needed to take three deep dragon breaths. That was the rule.

So the boy took a deep dragon breath in and out and his forehead softened.

The boy took another deep dragon breath in and out and his arms uncrossed.

With one more deep dragon breath in and out the boy’s body relaxed into the bean bag chair and he sighed. His anger seemed to have melted away. Slowly the boy climbed out of the squishy chair. Bailey tried his best to fluff himself back up. He wanted to be ready for the next kid that needed him. However, now there was a pit right in the center of the bean bag chair.

“Oh well,” Bailey thought, “at least they’ll know where to sit now.”

Today’s Meditation: Happiness and love flow through you in this meditation.
