516. Mini-Golf Adventure: a story and meditation for your bedtime routine

516. Mini-Golf Adventure: a story and meditation for your bedtime routine

Rogelio and his dad have a fun day playing miniature golf with Helen and Brianna.

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:45

Mini-Golf Adventure Excerpt:

Rogelio munched his breakfast with excitement. Today was going to be a fun day. Rogelio’s Dad was going to take him and his best friends, Brianna and Helen, to play a game called miniature golf.

The goal of the game was to hit a brightly colored golf ball into a hole by tapping it as few times as possible with a golf club called a “putter.”  Each hole had a different theme. Whoever took the fewest strokes to get the golf ball into all the holes was the winner.

“Dad, what color ball do you think I’ll get?” Rogelio asked.

“I don’t know, Ro.” Dad replied, using Rogelio’s nickname, “Ro.”

Rogelio loved it when his Dad called him by his nickname. It made him feel special.

“I think mine will be orange.” Rogelio guessed.

193. Dragon at Work: a soothing story and meditation for kids

Today Dragon bravely goes to the construction yard and meets Ellie the excavator and Danny the Dump Truck.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Dragon at Work” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Male

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 6:48

Dragon at Work Excerpt:

Sunshine streamed into the cave and gently woke the dragon.  The dragon sat up and stretched.  The dragon had decided to take the train’s advice and meet some vehicles before finding the people, and today was the day!  Although excited to go exploring, the dragon also felt nervous.  The curious dragon wasn’t quite sure how it could have both feelings at the same time, but that’s how the dragon felt.  Excited to be meeting new friends, and nervous that people might spot the dragon and run.  The dragon took a deep breath in and out and set off on the day’s adventure.

The dragon wound through the trees until the edge of the enchanted forest was in sight.  On the other side of the trees was the land of the people. The dragon peeked through the branches, curious to see what was there.  In the clearing were several garages with different colored doors. They faced each other and centered around a large circle of pavement.

The dragon took a deep dragon breath in and out and felt a bit more courageous. OK, it was time.  The dragon stepped out of the forest and walked over to the garages.  As it did, the red garage door began to roll up and an excavator rolled out.

The excavator blinked as she grew accustomed to the sunshine. The dragon smiled at her, and looked quite confident, if not for the tail swishing back and forth behind it, nervously.  The excavator looked a little surprised.  The dragon waved, hoping the excavator would understand. The excavator did.  She smiled back and said, “Hi my name is Ellie.  I haven’t seen you before. Where are you from?”

The dragon felt relieved that Ellie was friendly, and took a deep dragon breath in and out.  Flames gently rolled out of the dragon’s mouth, showing the forest, and then the cozy cave.

512. Sparkling Solar Train: a soothing story and meditation

Sparkling Train makes a trip around Ahway Island and meets many friends!

Narrator: Male

Story Start: 4:24

Sparkling Solar Train Excerpt:

The Ahway Island Train sat quietly in its roundhouse, waiting for the day to begin.  The moon was still out, reflecting brightly off the trees, and the air was still and peaceful. The sun would not rise for a few more hours, so the Train knew it would be a while before it was time to get going.

As the Train relaxed, it daydreamed about what it might encounter in the upcoming day.  Would Dragon be out and about in the enchanted forest, perhaps hanging out with Nutsy and Peanut squirrel?

Or would Dragon be off on adventure with some of the kids? Perhaps Rogelio, Brianna and Helen?  If they were on an adventure, would they be at the Ahway Island beach swimming or making a sandcastle?

What about Dylan and Diana Duck?  Would they have a nest of ducklings tucked away somewhere? It was that time of year. Perhaps they would have the ducklings practicing swimming in one of the smaller ponds on the island.

187. Costume Parade: a relaxing story and meditation for kids

Owen and Allie have been invited to a costume party but they’re afraid of masks. Will they join in to the costume parade?

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Costume Parade” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Male

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:37

Costume Parade Excerpt:

Allie had been invited to a party at her friend Andy’s house.  She was excited because she loved parties! She also felt nervous.  It was a costume party, and Allie worried that some people would be wearing masks.  She felt afraid when people wore masks.  Uneasy questions filled her mind when she saw a person in a mask.  Who was it? What did they want? Were they kind or mean? Allie usually ran away when a person wearing a mask came near.

All of these thoughts filled her head as she thought about the party. She was so worried about it, that even though she was going to play with her friends Lydia, Andy, Owen, and Raj today, Allie didn’t really feel like going.  What if they wanted to talk about the party?  Allie took a deep dragon breath in and out and felt a bit better.  After all, she did want to see her friends. So, off she went to Raj’s house.

When Allie arrived, Andy, Owen, and Lydia were already there.  As the friends discussed what to play, Lydia told Andy she felt excited about the party, and then Raj agreed with her.  Allie felt worried all over again, her stomach churned. Then Andy asked Owen, “What do you think about the party Owen?”  Owen looked down at his feet feeling embarrassed and said, “I’m not sure if I can go.”

“Why not?” Andy, Raj, and Lydia asked.

Allie jumped in and said, “Hey, it’s ok if he can’t go.  I’m not sure I can either.” She didn’t know Owen’s reason, but felt like she should help him out.

Now, Andy looked hurt.  “Oh.” He said.  “I just hoped that you all would be there.”

Owen sighed, and said, “It’s just… I’m afraid of masks.”

Allie’s mouth dropped, she didn’t think anyone else had that fear.  It felt good knowing she wasn’t alone.  Quickly she admitted “Me too!”  So that Owen could feel better too.

506. Sweep Sweep and Away! A relaxing bedtime story for kids

506. Sweep Sweep and Away! A relaxing bedtime story for kids

Skipper Street Sweeper and his driver Marta clean the streets all around town.

Narrator: Male

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:07

Sweep Sweep and Away! Excerpt:

Skipper the Street Sweeper was a happy fellow.  He just loved cleaning the streets of Ahway Island and keeping the island beautiful for everyone to enjoy.  And today was a very exciting day! It was the first of the month, which meant he was going to sweep over by the school and the library, as well as the post office and the grocery store.  There usually were very interesting things to see and sweep away when he was cleaning in town.

It was bright and early morning when Marta opened the overhead door to the garage where Skipper was waiting.  Marta was his driver and he thought she was such fun to work with.  While she was driving, Marta liked to listen to really peppy, cheerful music and Skipper loved the music too.  Or sometimes, Marta would just sing or hum a melody and she had such a pretty voice.

Marta also would wave hello to everyone they passed while cleaning the streets.  All the friendly waves back made Skipper feel really appreciated.

“Ready to go, buddy?” Marta called as she patted Skipper’s hood. Skipper was so excited he wanted to shout “yes” from the rooftops.  He knew exactly what was going to happen next.

Marta hopped into the driver’s seat and rolled down the window of the cab. Skipper’s engine roared to life with a loud VROOOOMMMM and soon they were rolling forward, out of the garage and into the sunlight. Skipper just loved the tickly rumble his engine made.

185. Fire Truck Tour: a soothing story and meditation for kids

Frankie the Firetruck is excited to see the kindergartners visit him, but he notices some of the kids are afraid. What will frankie do to help?

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Fire Truck Tour” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Male

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 6:44

Fire Truck Tour Excerpt:

Frankie the fire truck rested outside the firehouse.  Sunlight sparkled on his bright red sides.  Frankie hadn’t been that vibrant in a while, and he was loving it!  He had been polished and shined inside and out.  Today, Frankie was going to have a group of kindergarteners on board for a tour.  The fire truck felt honored.  He wanted the kids to feel safe, knowing that he was always ready to help.  Frankie watched the road as car after car passed by.  He hoped he would see a bus soon.  And then, he saw it.  The bright yellow bus turned into the fire station parking lot.  One by one the little kindergartners carefully stepped down the gigantic steps, one at a time.  The adults held their hands to help the little ones with this task. As all the children reached the ground, the adults settled them into a line, and they waited for instructions.

Frankie beeped a friendly hello, and then a couple of the kindergartners began to cry.  The fire truck felt surprised. He thought that all kids loved to see a fire truck.  Then Frankie noticed quite a few of them were holding their ears. In his excitement, the fire truck had forgotten how loud he could be.  He decided that he would try to be as quiet as he could.  Frankie watched the kindergartners and saw that some were jumping up and down, feeling excited to see him.  Some of the kids were smiling, feeling happy and content.  Some of the kids stepped up on their tippy toes, and peeked around the people in front of them.  They tried to see as much of the fire truck as they could and still be in line.  These kindergartners were definitely a curious bunch.  Then there were a few who were hiding behind the adults, and grasping their hands tightly, feeling scared.   This was definitely an interesting group, with many different needs.

The fire truck opened his doors and the kindergartners walked over with their teachers.  Right away the firemen all said hello, and began to talk about the fire truck.  The curious ones asked:

“How fast can Frankie go?” “How much water can the fire truck carry?” “Is there a dog that rides the fire truck?”

The excited ones said: “I have a toy fire truck at home!”  “My favorite book has a fire truck in it!”  “I’m going to drive a fire truck when I grow up!”

Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating in a tranquil pool, safe and relaxed, as the water rocks you gently.
