Giving Back: a mindful story for kids

Giving Back: a mindful story for kids

Once he counts the money in his giving jar, Billy is ready for giving back to the community. He’s thinking of helping his library. Listen to find out how.

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 6:23

Narrator: Male

Giving Back Excerpt:

“I’ll get mom. She can reach the jars and I want to see how much I have too.”

Emily returned with their mom.

“So, you guys want to count the money in your ‘giving’ jars?” Mom said. “Before I get them down, let’s talk about what you would like to do. Do you have any ideas?”

Billy said, “I hadn’t really thought about what to do with the money. I just thought I’d count it out.” He paused and then added, “I really like reading books… Do you think I can help the library? Maybe I could buy them some more books!”

Mom answered, “Probably. You’ll have to ask them if that’s what they need. Do you have any ideas for your money Emily?”

“I need to think some more.” Emily answered.

Her mom smiled and said, “Take your time.” She reached up and got their jars down.

“Can we go to the library this afternoon?” Billy asked change cascaded onto the table.

She checked the schedule and said with a smile, “I think we can fit that in.”

Today’s Meditation: Relax in the grass as you imagine sunlight warming you from head to toe.

A Bouncy Party Excerpt:

The little bouncy house watched the balloons twirling in the breeze by the mailbox, as the cars arrived.  Kids skipped up to the door of the house and pointed at him excitedly.  The little house smiled, ready to play his part in the happy birthday.  A dad walked over to Bobo, double-checking that he was secured to the ground, and everything was set up.  Five kids ran out the door and began jostling for the first place in line, when the dad said, “OK first we’ll line up by height.  Smallest to tallest, I bet you can figure it out.  But I’ll help if you need me.”

Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating in a tranquil pool, safe and relaxed, as the water rocks you gently.

Checking In: a relaxation and story for your naptime routine

Checking In: a relaxation and story for your naptime routine

Danny the dump truck feels a little down. Dory has an idea. Maybe checking in to the maintenance garage will help him feel better.
Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:24

Narrator: Male

Checking In Excerpt:

As the little dump truck trudged forward slowly, Dory, the other dump truck, drove past him and asked, “Is everything ok Danny?”

“Yeah. Why?” Danny mumbled, busy concentrating on driving forward.

“You’re moving pretty slow this morning, and your tires look flat.” Dory responded.

“I wanted to ask you about that.” Danny said. “My tires are really squishy, and my wheels hurt. I’m having trouble moving today. Have you ever felt like that?”

Dory said, “Yes, when I have a flat tire. I usually go to the maintenance garage to check my tires and oil every other week, so my tires stay full. When did you get your last check up?”

Danny laughed and said, “Oh I’m too busy to take time for that. I probably haven’t stopped by that garage for almost a year. I’m a healthy truck.”

Today’s Meditation: Feel your muscles relax as you check in with your body from head to toe.

Berry Fun: a short story and meditation for kids

Berry Fun: a short story and meditation for kids

Allie and Andy are excited to go berry picking. Although they’re just getting to know each other they’re sure to have a berry fun day!

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story “Soothing Sea” this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Berry Fun,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 11:09

Narrator: Male

Berry Fun Excerpt:

When Andy and his dad reached Allie’s house, she bounded out of the front door with her dad following behind.  While Andy and Allie’s dads talked for a bit Allie said, “Thanks for inviting me!  I’ve never been berry picking before.”

“You’re welcome.”  Andy said, smiling.   “This is my first time too.  I guess we’ll figure it out together.”

She hopped into the car and said, “You know I really enjoyed playing that Sardines game you taught us.”

“Thanks. I’m glad you liked it. Oh look! There’s the brand new train!” Andy said, excitedly pointing out the window.

“Isn’t it cool!” Allie said.  “Do you know why it’s sparkling?  That’s the solar paint they used.  I think it’s awesome that the train moves with energy from the sun!  Don’t you?”

Andy felt surprised, then excited.  Allie understood solar power, and she liked trains.  He smiled and said, “Yeah, it’s pretty neat.  I like how the solar energy powers the motors and then the magnets inside the track and pulls the train forward or backward, wherever it needs to go.  It’s so quiet too!  Listen!”  Both Allie and Andy listened and could just make out a gentle hum as the train passed them by.

Today’s Meditation: Today, you will focus on relaxing your body a little bit at a time.  Starting with your feet, moving up to the top of your head, and ending with a focus on your entire body, you are sure to feel calm and relaxed.

Soothing Sea: a calming meditation and story

Two little sharks, Shayla and Santiago play in the soothing sea, diving down to the ocean floor from the surface, and returning to the warmth of the sunlit waters.

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:38
Narrator: Male

Soothing Sea Excerpt:

After refreshing themselves with a quick dive under the water, the two friends popped back up to the surface to watch the sun finish its morning journey.

“What did you have planned for today?” Santiago shark asked Shayla after they dove back under the surface.

“Well, I thought I’d get a little exercise. I’ve been feeling a little sluggish and could use some extra energy.” Shayla replied.

“That’s a good idea! Can I join you?” Santiago asked.

Shayla smiled and said, “That’s sounds like fun.” The two sharks began to swim starting with slow graceful swings of their tails. Once they felt their bodies slip into a relaxed pattern, the two sharks gradually swam faster and faster. Laughing, suddenly Santiago dove down towards the ocean floor and Shayla followed him. The two sharks zipped along through the cool water. Today’s Meditation: Feel your muscles relax as you check in with your body from head to toe.

Stuck in Mud: a bedtime story and meditation

Stuck in Mud: a bedtime story and meditation

It’s a rainy day as Toby the tow truck drives along. Toby notices his friend Bodhi the beach buggy is stuck in mud. How will he get his friend moving again?

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story “Roly Robot” and this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Stuck in Mud,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:37

Narrator: Male

Stuck in Mud Excerpt:

Rain pitter-pattered in a gentle rhythm on the roof.  The little tow truck listened as the beat grew stronger and stronger.  Soon the wind added a whistle to the rhythm of the rain. Toby wondered if the cars were struggling on the roads.  The weather sounded a bit pushy.  The little tow truck hoped everyone was driving safely.  Then Toby heard the motor in the garage door whirr. Slowly, the door rolled up above the little tow truck, and the driver ran in.

“Are you ready to give some people a hand?”  The driver asked.  Toby took a deep dragon breath in and out (deep breath) to clear his mind and focus.  Then he rumbled a “Yes!” as the driver turned the key.

“OK, let’s go.” The driver said.

Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating in a tranquil pool, safe and relaxed, as the water rocks you gently.
