Pal Rides Again Excerpt:

It started out as an ordinary day. Pal, the little puppy darted in between and around the boy and girl’s feet as they rushed around the kitchen. With a “See you later,” the boy and girl left for school. Now Pal just had to make it through the boring morning. The little puppy settled into his bed with a chewy toy and worked on that for a while. He hopped up and had a snack around lunchtime and then the little puppy heard a rumble outside. With paws on the window ledge, Pal peered outside. It was the city bus! Pal barked a happy woof as the bus rolled by. His tail wagged, back and forth, back and forth. Pal’s bus was next!

The little puppy climbed out through the dog door and ran over to wait at the bus stop. He had been riding the bus every day since the first day of school. As people arrived to wait for the next bus they patted Pal on the head, and said, “Good afternoon Pal! How are you today?” The energetic little puppy’s tail wagged non-stop. Then Pal froze in place and listened. He heard a rumble in the distance. The bus was on its way! He zipped around all the people, and they said, “Pal’s telling us it’s time to line up.” Everyone lined up, ready for the bus. Pal took his place at the back of the line.

The bus stopped, and the people climbed the steps. As Pal placed his paw on the first step, the driver said, “Shoo, shoo.” frowning at the little puppy. Pal felt a little confused, after all he always rode the bus. The little puppy sniffed the air to see what was different. He smelled a different smell, and heard the people say, “It’s ok. He always rides the bus. Pal gets off at the school. You’ll see.” Pal looked at the driver and realized that the driver was different today. The substitute driver shrugged his shoulders and said, “Ok, but if he’s still on the bus after the school, one of you is taking him with. I can’t have a dog on my bus all day.” And with that Pal took his spot in the first seat. The little puppy settled in and looked out the window, his tail wagging and wagging.

483. Found Friends: a meditation and story for bedtime

Wilbur goes on a walk with Sam. The walk takes them in a new direction and they meet some new neighbors!

Narrator: Female

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:20

Found Friends Excerpt:

Wilbur the Dog was lying in a bright warm sunbeam when he heard a faint jingle. He sat up and lifted his years. He heard the jingle again. Wilbur jumped up onto all four paws and ran over toSam. Sam had adopted Wilbur when he was a small pup. Wilbur ran in excited circles around Sam. It was time for a walk! They were going on a walk!

Wilbur was so excited Sam had a hard time getting the blue leash attached to Wilbur’s collar. Finally, the leash clicked and Wilbur stood perfectly still at the door, waiting for it to open. As soon as the door moved, Wilbur put his front paws on it and pushed it open the rest of the way. He bolted out the door, pulling Sam behind him.

“Slow down, Wilbur,” Sam said.

The little dog scrambled to turn the corner. Wilbur wanted to make sure they really were taking the right path for the LONG walk. They were! Wilbur wagged his tail in excitement.

As they walked down the street, Wilbur’s nose tickled with all the different smells outside! The first smell he identified was a chipmunk. Definitely a chipmunk. The next smell, Wilbur paused to sniff a bit longer. Was the scent a squirrel or a mouse?

172. Sunflower Silliness: a bedtime story and guided meditation for kids

James and Julia have a sunflower garden. As they go through their day they notice the flowers face different directions. What is going on?

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Sunflower Silliness” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Female

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:28

Sunflower Silliness Excerpt:

Sunlight slipped through the drapes in Julia’s room, and she opened her eyes. Julia hopped out of bed and headed downstairs to eat her breakfast. James was already there. He looked up as she walked into the kitchen and asked. “Did you look at our garden?”

“Not yet,” Julia replied. “Why?”

“Look and see!” her little brother said. So Julia walked over to the window to look out at the garden and understood why James felt so excited. Their sunflowers had grown tall and though they were still green, now they all had buds on them. “Wow! Look at our sunflowers!” she said. “Did you notice they are all facing the same direction?” she asked James.

“Yeah. I wonder why they’re doing that.” He said. Julia went back to the table to have breakfast. She and James had big plans today. They were going to have a checkers tournament. “I think it would be nice to set up the checkerboard near the sunflowers.”

“That’s a good idea.” James said.

479. A Birthday Search: a soothing story and meditation

Kelly the Computer helps plan a wonderful birthday party!

Narrator: Male

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:55

A Birthday Search Excerpt:

A woman stepped into the room where the family computer was kept. Kelly the Computer was sleeping on the big desk in the corner of the room. The woman sat down in front of Kelly and gently tickled her keyboard to wake her up.

Kelly yawned and awoke as her screen slowly brightened.  She silently greeted the woman, happy to be able to help her. Kelly wondered what the woman might need from her today. Almost every day, the woman needed to use the email services on Kelly’s hard drive. Often, the woman used programs installed in Kelly to write letters or other documents. And sometimes, the woman just liked to play the games that were inside Kelly. Kelly always liked that, because it was fun to watch the woman smile while she played.

But Kelly’s favorite thing to do was help the woman find things on using her internet search engines. Kelly never stopped feeling amazing by how much wonderful information she could help the woman find. Once Kelly had heard the woman talking to someone about what she called “the old days,” before Kelly existed. The woman said that in those days, people didn’t have computers in their house and could not search for information or pictures so easily. It was very hard for Kelly to imagine what that would have been like!

171. Changing Patterns: a meditation and story for your bedtime routine

171. Changing Patterns: a meditation and story for your bedtime routine

Brandon the block likes to follow a pattern in his art but today the kids are creating something new. Will he like it?

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Changing Patterns” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Male

Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:20

Changing Patterns Excerpt:

The pattern blocks sat in their usual spots, all neatly placed according to size and shape in their container. Brandon the purple triangle block smiled. He felt contented. Everything was just as he liked it: neat, orderly, and all the blocks ready to follow the directions on whatever pattern the kids picked. As he wondered what their next pattern would be, the lid to the container opened and light spilled inside. It was time to play! Brandon watched carefully to see what pattern the kids would pick, but they left the direction cards in their spot.

Brandon felt confused. What could the kids be doing? All the blocks were already organized nicely. The purple triangle block watched as the kids took out large, red rectangle blocks and stood them on their side, in many different patterns. None of the patterns were like anything Brandon had seen before. Now the purple triangle block felt a bit worried. This was something new. He was unsure what would happen next. So he watched. The big orange squares were next, and the kids set them on top of the red blocks in some places and not in others. All the blocks were talking, wondering what was happening. Brandon started to feel upset. Then he remembered his deep dragon breaths. He took a deep breath in and out and watched carefully. The kids were smiling and the red and orange blocks seemed more curious than upset. He took another deep breath in and out feeling better. “Ok,” he thought. “Let’s see what’s going to happen. Everyone seems to be happy and safe. Maybe the kids have something really fun planned.” He still wasn’t sure how they could make anything without a pattern.
